A couple weeks back I mentioned that Jocelyn climbed out of her crib. Well, apparently, I spoke too soon. It seems I forgot to put the side rail up on the crib when I left her in her room (hoping she would nap, haha). She did climb out over the lowered rail. However, she must have decided that it was a bit too ambitious on her part and she hasn't attempted to climb out on her own, no matter whether the rail was up or down, since then.
We realized we still need to be prepared for it to happen any day. We have bought better doors to separate our rooms. We will have to be able to put the bifold door locks on them, and the current ones have a glass center. Leaving those in place, would not be a good idea! The new doors need to be stained. We have the side rail for the toddler bed ready to go. And I have started to organize her room a bit for the inevitable cleanout.
As for the update, you may remember that once upon a time we attempted potty training, maybe more than once. See here and here. Well, after many weeks, we gave up. It just seemed like Jocelyn was fighting it. She had a few successes in the beginning, but then I would swear she started to hold it, UNTIL she got off the potty, and then she would go in her underwear, or pullup or whatever. It got very old after a while, and once she started fighting me about every trip to the potty, we gave up.
Here we are 6 months later, and I'm still not sure that she's ready to discuss it again. Every once in a while I suggest a visit to the potty and I get a rousing "NO!" Potty training is not supposed to be a battle ground and I refuse to make it one. My child will be potty trained before Kindergarten. Until then, I will listen to her signals and follow her lead. I had hoped it would be an easy process, but it hasn't been. I guess we'll see what the next few months brings.
So there you have it. The latest in our daily sagas!
